Robert Chiti - Las Vegas Powerhouse

Mateo Magazine:  Please give us a little background about yourself.
Robert Chiti:  I was born and raised in Toronto, Canada, one of the most multi-cultural cities in the world.  I was exposed to different cultures growing up, and it gave me an appreciation for diversity.  My first and only work experience in Toronto was in the restaurant/hospitality industry for over eight years.  I knew at a young age that the hospitality industry would be a big part of my future.

MM:  How did you end up in Vegas?
RC:  After graduating from college in Toronto, I wanted to further my education in the hospitality industry.  A close relative, who lived in Las Vegas, suggested to my family and I that UNLV would be a great fit for me as it offered one of the best hospitality programs in the United States.

After discussing this with my family; and the fact that there are 360 days of sunshine and being a huge UNLV Rebels basketball fan, Vegas was for me.  As a close-knit family, we decided to make the big move!

MM:  What makes LAVO one of the premier nightclubs in Las Vegas?
RC:  The past 11 years living in Las Vegas has been an eye-opening experience.  From owning my own business and working for great companies like the Four Seasons Hotel to currently LAVO Restaurant and Nightclub, currently owned by the TAO Group as a Director of VIP Hosts.  LAVO is a premier boutique nightclub located inside The Palazzo Hotel & Casino. The 4,500 sq ft venue has an intimate feel, yet highly energized dance floor with 40 VIP tables.  LAVO has been recognized for outstanding bottle service and attention to detail.  Word of mouth will make or break you in Vegas, and in this competitive industry, you need to follow up and maintain a strong relationship with your guests.  Guest experience and personalized services are the foundation for LAVO's success.

MM:  What struggles did you have to endure to become who you are today?
RC:  I am a true believer that you need to work hard to achieve success.  Moving to a new country where I did not have any contacts was my biggest challenge.  I learned to adapt quickly, and understand the importance of networking in this city.  I was actively involved in networking events, and continued to maintain relationships with key industry professionals.

MM:  Any words of advice for people visiting Las Vegas for the first time?
RC:  First- time Vegas visitors:  Remember, Vegas is not only about gambling.  We have the best nightclubs and restaurants in the country, along with great shopping.  Do your research before, or you will feel lost when you get here.  The first decision you should make, is to find the hotel that suits you, and what part of the city you want to be.  Las Vegas is an adventure everyone should experience, at least once.
