I love to put makeup on; it’s just about one of my favourite things to do…or better yet, look in the mirror when I have my makeup on. And I know, as someone who wears makeup, that it just always makes us look that much better. Eyes look brighter and more awake, cheeks look rosier, lips look poutier, and skin, well, let’s be honest—you can cover up any imperfections, but they’re never truly covered up, are they? That’s why having a skincare regimen is so important! If your skin looks good, then everything looks good. How many times have we tried to do a front-bang side sweep just to cover a pimple, or the tried-and-tested, all-of-a-sudden, out-of-nowhere beauty mark made with black liner on that pesky little bugger you popped 3 days ago! And let’s not forget how many people have asked, “Are you sick? You look tired,” on that day that you just happened to be in a rush and had no time to put on your heavy-duty concealer. And to top it all off, you’re not tired at all!

Here’s a foolproof list of what your skincare regimen should be on a daily basis, and I’m talking every day and every night!

Step One: Makeup Remover

Step Two: Cleanse
Obviously we should be washing our faces. There’s no point to slabbing on a wad of cream on top of dirt, now is there? If you are strapped on time to get to that morning meeting, make sure your face is freshly washed before you hit the sack!

Step Three: Toner
Oh toner, the most forgotten step in everyone’s skincare process, yet one of the most important! We need toner in order to bring back the pH balance in our skin; otherwise, the rest of your routine will not work as effectively.

Step Four: Serum or Treatment
Depending on your skin, a serum or treatment will take your routine to a whole new level. If you struggle with acne, try an acne mask, or if you have dry skin, try a hydrating serum.

Step Five: Eye Cream
Um…hello! Eyes are the windows to our souls…or so they say. Why not keep them looking as fresh and young as possible? Unfortunately most of us have an eye concern. There’s puffy, dark, wrinkles, sensitive…just to name a few. And the skin under our eyes is thinner than the skin on the rest of our face, so that’s why we age there first. There are tons of eye creams out there that target your needs, and some that do a little bit of everything!

Step Six: Face Cream
There are hundreds of face creams out there. How to choose? Find exactly what your skin concerns are, and select a cream that addresses those needs. You shouldn’t have trouble finding one. You can even get a lighter cream for daytime and a heavier cream for night.

Step Seven: Sunblock
Sunblock is going to prevent a whole lot for you: sun damage, lines, and thick leathery skin, for example. This step only applies to your morning routine.

Throwing in a good facial exfoliation once or twice a week depending on your skin needs is great! You get rid of the dead skin and look and feel refreshed. Go to your local beauty store and ask an expert for some help if you are finding it hard to choose the right products for your skin. They are experts for a reason, and they’ll be happy to help you. And remember: Flawless is foxy!
