Freshen Up For Spring: 5 Beauty Tips Print E-mail

Spring Beauty Tips

  1. As seasons change, the transition from cold weather to warmer temperatures can really wreak havoc on our skin, leaving it dry and cracked. Try leaving an extra supply of heavy-duty body moisturizer next to your bottle of shampoo in the shower. This time, slather on a generous amount of lotion before you grab the towel to dry off. This, in addition to the humidity, heat and access water from the shower will lock in the moisture and keep your skin feeling soft all day long. (Try: Vaseline Intensive Care Rescue Moisture Locking Lotion, $3.89)
  2. Even though we may still be a few months shy of sandal season, that is no reason to neglect those toes any longer. Check the nail polish aisle next time you’re at the pharmacy to find at-home pedicure kits. Easy-to-use and highly effective, these compact kits usually include a callus remover, pumice stone, and buffer, making your feet feel brand new again. At $10-$15, these kits are a fraction of the cost of a spa pedicure. Finish it off with your favorite polish! (Try: Revlon Pedi-Expert Pedicure Kit, $14.99)
  3. Once warm weather hits, many of us become so eager to regain that sun-kissed glow that we pile on the foundation, blush and bronzer to fake what might not be quite there yet. Don’t worry, it will happen eventually. But in the meantime and even on the hottest days, your best look will always be a natural one. So let your skin breathe! Makeup has come a long way, with products like Smashbox’s intuitive clear gel blush that reacts with your skin and transforms to your most natural rosy hue! (Try: Smashbox O-Glow Intuitive Cheek Color, $26.00)
  4. Brighten up your daily routine even before you step outside. Spring runways are beaming with look-at-me colors like coral, purple and green. The key is: use in moderation. When you’re using a bright, bold color on your lips, cheeks or eyes, the rule of thumb is to keep the rest of your makeup minimal. Try using a girly coral lipgloss, paired with a bronzed pink blush on the cheeks and a gold dust on your lids for a pretty Spring look. (Try: NARS Tzigane Lipstick, $24.00)
  5. Last but not least, turn dry damaged hair into luscious locks overnight! Your hair endures a lot on a daily basis: exposure to hot styling tools, product build-up, and breakage. After washing your hair, apply a leave-in conditioner from root to tip. Pull hair into a loose bun at the nape of your neck, and cover with a plastic shower cap. For best results, leave the treatment in overnight and rinse the following day. Your locks will feel soft, silky, and shiny all over again! (Try: Damage Remedy Intensive Restructuring Treatment, $29.00)
