How Food Makes Us Pretty

How many of us have heard from our mothers, “You are what you eat?” Well, it's true. The worse the food, the worse we feel, and the better the food, the better we feel…and look!

We have made a list of 6 top foods that make us prettier (and healthier), which is always a bonus!

Salmon: This fish contains essential fatty acids that help to moisturize our skin. Great to chow down on, especially when the seasons change. (We all get dry skin…don’t lie.) Don’t like fish? No problem. Some other comparables are walnuts and canola oil. And don’t get confused by equating oilier skin with good hydration. Every skin type benefits from this food.

Green Tea: Who would have thought? We drink it when we’re on a diet, but it can also help us to be beautiful? Green tea helps to fight off free radicals and slow the aging process. And who doesn’t love that? Try substituting your morning coffee with this wonder! Coffee just dehydrates us anyway and can certainly be addictive.

Water: Um…duh! Water does wonders. It’s great for hydration, but who didn’t already know that? But you may not know that we need to be consuming 8 cups a day.  It may be tricky or even tedious at first to drink so much water, but you’ll get used to it. And if you still think this is way too much to do, instead make sure that you are eating fruits high in water, or even drink some additional green tea. Water also helps to flush out our kidneys, in turn preventing sallow, tired-looking skin.

Avocados: First of all, yum! Second of all, these are great for those of us who have a lot of redness in our skin. Avocados are an anti-inflammatory, soothing and protecting against puffy eyes and fine lines. Try them in a salad or sandwich. Or better yet, now you have an excuse to binge on the guacamole!

Wheat Germ: Hey, it’s not all about the skin, right? What about the hair and nails? Well this bad boy does the trick, helping them to become stronger and more resilient. Sprinkle this on your morning yogurt, and you just created a recipe for one foxy mama.

Low-sugar Fruits: Melons, plums, blueberries…well, any berry, in fact. These super-duper fruits help to tighten and firm. And I am not just talking about the face, Honey.
